ART OF THE MONTH

As I was working with the oil pastels, I grew to love it! As many artists are aware, designing detail with oil pastel can be a challenge. I did some research on tips and tricks on how other artists incorporated detail on this wet-based pastel. I used mineral oil and Lyra Rembrandt Polycolor Oil-Based Color Pencils, to help get some finer detail in! I am still in the experimental phase. This piece is a symbolic, zentangle abstract artwork that emphasizes the beauty of womanhood and the gifts, health, spiritual and intellectual mindset we should embrace in our girls and women worldwide. The lines represent this attribute and so does the figurehead. I used a lot of earthy tonal colors to represent women's natural beauty and purple to represent our spiritual strengths and abilities.

This pastel painting was inspired by a video that Red Table Talk covered on female health. The link to video is here:

ART OF THE MONTH

June 2021

This flat simplistic abstract work represents lines, colors, shapes and moods I tend to feel at night in the summer, on a patio. The yellow represents the warm awkward light that bleeds out from inside of the home. The red stripe represents the last moments' touch of the sunset as it ascends to complete darkness. It's almost like a memory because the sunset can be so present that after it has already been gone, the night was already descending into. The pitch-black represents the night, no depth no feeling, just mystery. I really enjoyed this piece because lines and shapes can truly represent a lot of feeling, emotion and can create a story!

ART OF THE MONTH

May 2021

This pastel artwork made me think of a path, I never thought I would get on. The concept of zentangle, shape, form, and basic elements of design can make a dynamic piece. I feel like I want to strengthen this concept!

ART OF THE MONTH

April 2021

As I got comfortable with the Sennelier pastels, I took it to the next level with my current skills in art. I wanted this image to have a sense of zentangle and the symbolic image it holds. The color, shapes, line, and form all tell a story, which makes this one of my first pastel favorites!
